Multivitamin and Mineral Supplement Keep Your Immune System
CONDITIONS modern life of today's increasingly demanding society to pay attention to your health and body condition. Working environment in the office air conditioning and artificial looks clean does not mean the absence of exposure to free radicals. In addition, high levels of stress, air pollution and dietary habits and unhealthy lifestyles lead to a decline in the immune system (immune) from the body.
Foods, especially fruits and vegetables are sources of antioxidants that work to stabilize free radicals. While vitamin and mineral function helps work different types of enzymes that also function as antioxidants.
Based on data from the Organization for Food and Agriculture Organization / World Health Organization in 1992, working women are a group of women of childbearing age are less prone to problems of micronutrients. Besides being caused by stress, either environmental stress or workload, women also tend to menstruate regularly and dieting.
Vocation and ignorance also makes humans less frequently noted the need for nutrients, so without realizing it, a marked decrease in the interruption of immune health. Therefore, in order to maintain health and activities of daily uninterrupted, to supplement the nutritional needs that can not be met from food, many women choose to consume a multivitamin and mineral supplement.
Seeing these conditions, PT Bayer Indonesia Consumer Care division Institut Pertanian in Bogor (IPB), Faculty of Human Ecology announced the results of a study titled "The Influence of Multi Vitamin-Mineral Supplementation oxidant state is shown to increase Redoxon Fortimun 47% the level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) that neutralize free radicals in the body.
The results are a matter of debate at the symposium on "Allergy and Clinical Immunology in updating the daily practice", organized by the Jakarta Allergy and Clinical Immunology Network (JACIN) in Bogor on 26-27 June 2010.
research materials discussed in the session "The role of vitamins in the immune system," presented in two parts, namely, "The role of vitamins and minerals in the development of immunity" by the Forester and Dr. Fitrah Ernawati Dr. MSc, and "stop the formation of vitamin Atheroschlerosis. Between Facts and Myths" by Dr. Dr. Joko Maryon SpJP PHASE fiha SPPD.
In connection with the support of PT Bayer Indonesia's Consumer Care Division, David M Budi, General Manager of Bayer HealthCare Consumer Care PT Bayer Indonesia said, "This is a real form of Bayer HealthCare's commitment to Service improvement health condition of the community. We can improve the quality of human life from improving the quality of healthcare. Through this research, we expect the public to understand the important role of vitamins in the system immune. "
The study involved 150 people working woman working in a garment factory in the area of Bogor. They were selected because the factory worker is the fertile age group at risk of micronutrient deficiencies and exposure to oxidative stress, due to working in confined spaces of the dough in a standing position continuously.
Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants in the body. Research over 70 days to divide the sample into two main groups, namely those who were given a multivitamin supplement and a placebo.
The results of research conducted by Dr. Ernawati Fitrah MSc, a researcher at the Center for Nutrition and Food Bogor, RI, Ministry of Health, Dr. Forester, Professor, Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB Dr. Hadi Riyadi MS, Professor, Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB Dr. Wayan Wibawan IT MS, Professor, Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB and Prof . Muhilal PhD, former member of the National Research Council showed that administration of a multi vitamin-mineral in women can increase levels of vitamin E, and levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and also significantly increase levels of vitamin A and vitamin C.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can break the chain of free radicals through various processes. Vitamin C is needed to help the regeneration of vitamin D that can be played at the end of the chain of free radicals.
Meanwhile, superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an enzyme that works to repair cells and reduce cell damage caused by superoxide free radicals contained in the body.
Dr. Forester, Chairman of the Research Team of the IPB, explains, "superoxide dismutase (SOD), the dual role of antioxidants in the body and neutralize free radicals that can cause wrinkles and changes in body cells. Our results show that administration of a multivitamin mineral are better able to protect itself from free radicals shown by the lowest percentage of samples with higher levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) below normal compared to placebo administration. To this end , multiple micronutrient supplementation is recommended to improve nutrient antioxidant status of working women who are at risk of exposure to oxidative stress. "
The results showed that Redoxon Fortimun multivitamin and minerals it contains, showed increased levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD). Elevated levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) neutralizes free radicals in the body while high doses of vitamin C needed to create a natural antioxidant.
Meanwhile, in another session that raised the role of vitamins in the development of atherosclerosis, Dr. Djoko Maryon dr SPPD SpJP fiha PHASE explains: "Vitamins and minerals are antioxidants that may improve cellular immunity. Several studies Clinical trials have shown that vitamin and mineral supplements may prevent atherosclerosis and reduce the number of aggressive acute coronary events, restenosis in angioplasty, and stroke cases.
